The Project STEADI Modeling and Simulation Workshop on Wednesday July 16, 2008 will be held in Blanchard Hall
at CSU’s Cunningham Center. This workshop will educate regional defense and homeland security industry contractors,
economic development people and CSU faculty and administrators. The workshop will focus on modeling, simulation
and gaming – demonstrating what can and is being done with the capabilities of this new technology. You will leave
the workshop with 1) a better understanding of the capability and opportunities of modeling and simulation, and 2) an
appreciation of why and how the military is embracing this technology. I assure you it will be time well invested.
You will hear from some of the leading experts in this field including keynote speaker, Dr. Roland Mielke a Professor
at Old Dominion University and the former Executive Director of the Virginia Modeling and Simulation Center (VMASC),
a nationally acclaimed institution of modeling and simulation excellence. Dr. Mielke is a widely respected pioneer in
the field of modeling and simulation and is actively involved in advising CSU in this area. His presentation on the VMASC
experience will provide a terrific backdrop for our own pursuit of a similar program at CSU.
STEADI is proving to be a win-win proposition for everyone involved – the Defense and Homeland Security industries,
CSU, Fort Benning and the communities that form this region. We look forward to telling this story on July 16.
